The Way

The Way serves as a place for bible study for those who need a place where they can be themselves. It also houses heavy metal/punk rock concerts. I had the most fun shooting during the two hours the band members and kids hung out while waiting for the sun to go down and the concerts to start.

Grandma

I can't believe it's been four years since she has been gone. I went through some old photos of her today. It reminded me that I need to get on the video I never finished for my family. I followed her battle with cancer in one of my first photo classes for my long term story and after she passed away I wanted to piece together all the memories throughout the years. I guess I just haven't had the courage to finish it. I think it's time. I miss her and hopefully it will bring me closer to her again. Stay tuned for that but for now here are some photos of her. At her favorite time of the year, Christmas. Watching me be a fatty baby. and finally our last photo together and last day we spent together. Love you and miss you everyday gram's.

Wind Energy

Josh (the right photo) and I went to the windmill museum here in lubbock to cover a class on wind energy. We got to go inside a wind turbine and Josh was able to climb all 160 ft to the top. I on the other hand could not since I did not have proper shoes on. So I stayed on the bottom and photographed the students and Josh climb.

anatomy lab

i was given this assignment to photograph this professor who is retiring. i photographed in the anatomy lab. yikes. those are cross sections of human cadavers. he tried to show me dead people but i objected. still, he was a really nice guy and turns out i photographed his son not too long ago as well.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park

In April I went to Palo Duro Canyon State Park with Logan, a reporter with the A-J, for our summer outdoor series. This was my first big video project. I've been working on it for the last three weeks. When I finished it Final Cut crashed and somehow I lost the finished product even though I saved it. Luckily, another photog found it in my auto save folder. But the last two hours of saved video was corrupted but at least I didn't lose the whole project and was able to finish it without starting all over. whew. I still have a lot to learn but here it is...

A three-year old boy was playing with his parents lighter, set the family of 14's home on fire and was the only one unable to escape. a sad story.

My brother is a Marine!!!!

A little video I made for my brother to keep his memories of graduation showing us the base and becoming a Marine. It's pretty long but I wanted him to have most of the photos since it's for him. Enjoy! My favorite part is me running to go see him for the first time in three months!!!!

I visited the Haven Animal Care Shelter yesterday to photograph volunteers cleaning and playing with the animals. Right before I left this little girl stopped by to pick up her dog her family adopted.

Muskeet Skeet

One year ago I was starting my first day in Muskegon which would be my last internship. I'll admit every now and then I miss Lake Michigan. Never thought I would. But most of all I miss my lovely photog friends there. Great people and place to work. If anyone is looking for an internship, I recommend.

Brush Fire

In the midst of all my photographing Tech fans being sad that Tech was losing the Cotton Bowl I found a huge black cloud of smoke in Lubbock. I followed it and after getting lost about 8 times I made it. Just a little late.

Happy New Year

I spent part of my new years at a party to benefit the homeless that a local church put on. After taking this photo I wondered how many of us would ever even touch a homeless man let alone kiss him.
